I was assigned in the entertainment committee for our upcoming party. Everyone was looking forward to this party because it also served as a welcome party to the newly hired employees of the company.  It was one of the few times that everyone I the office could forget about work and gets to enjoy each other’s company.

I asked around what kind of entertainment they wanted to have during the party and most of the people that I asked replied that having a Phoenix live cover band would be nice.  So I asked around looking for a band that could be able to play for us.  I was lucky to have found one that came highly recommended. An officemate of mine once attended a party where they played and told me that they were good.  Another nice thing about them is that they can play a variety of genres from Soul, R&B to Latin and Standards.  With that I’m sure that all age brackets would be covered by their music.

While talking to the manager of the band, I learned that they are also a Phoenix wedding reception band. I’m sure they would be able to get more bookings after playing in our party for I know of a couple of soon-to-be-brides in our office who were looking for a band for their wedding reception.

The party went well and the band was a hit.  I would not hesitate in getting them for our next event again.

My parents have always stayed up on world current events and now that I am older, I do too. I would love to try and instill this trait into my children but they do not seem to be too interested. I try and talk about things at the dinner table and when we are in the car heading to some sports event but they do not seem interested.

I suppose that my parents never really talked about the world current events with me or my siblings, but they always discussed it openly in front of us. Maybe that would work better; I would think that if they are not forced to listen to something, that they might be more curious about it.

I am going to see if my husband thinks that it would be a better way to get the kids involved, by having them just listen and watch by our example. When I stop trying to talk with them, they might wonder why and then join in themselves.

My parents would be happy to learn that I am trying to get my kids interested in the same things that we all like, but it is just taking a little longer than it did for me, when I was a kid.
