Legal requirements on advertising
Advertising February 22nd, 2008Depending on the readers of the magazine as age, sex and religion there are legal obligations to be met. The magazine advertising should be placed in the a way that it does no give the impression of indecency as nudity, bias, discrimination or encouraging vices as drug use or prostitution. Any magazine not observing this could be liable to closure or banning.
Mobile billboards should not be place or displayed in areas which contravene the above regulations. Products as condoms, sex enhancers, alcohol, cigarettes and other adult consumed products should not be advertised near schools. This would encourage the kids to use or experiment with them. Also all products advertised must have undergone thorough tests to ascertain their safety.
In most national newspapers advertising there are always disclaimers transferring the liability of the information provided to the owners of the advert. This is due to the regulation requiring the media not publish wrong information or be a leeway for citizens to be conned. If the place advert is fraud the media house gives the details of the person who placed the advert to the relevant authorities.
Once you pay for an advert in the print media advertising you enter into a contract with the party involved thus it has to be fulfilled. The advertiser is legally obliged to meet the agreed terms or else can be sued. This protects the people from being defrauded. Also the tax for the income gained must be remitted as per the laid out conditions by the government.
